Captain Steve took home first place with a 700 + marlin!

Puerto Vallarta holds it’s annual marlin and sailfish tournament each November 16th through the 19th, with over $300,000 dollars in prizes its no wonder it’s growing popularity! This year 2008, will be the 53rd annual de Pez velae marlin tournament or sailfish and marlin tournament.

The Hook the cure tournament was also a great success this year raising over $385,000 dollars towards the cystic fibrosis foundation. The hook the cure Puerto Vallarta fishing
tournament will be held again this year starting October 25th.

There are 4 different categories marlin, sailfish, yellow fin tuna, and mahi mahi. this year captain Steve did not get first place but he did receive a trophy for 5th place with a 28 lb mahi mahi. The 2007 sailfish winner was Alfredo Zuniga with a 107 lb sailfish! marlin winner was Jorge Gaffney with a 367 lb marlin! yellow fin tuna winner was Steve Shea with a 85 lb tuna and Kimberly de la Campa who won the mahi mahi with a 5 ft long 40 lb mahi mahi The tournament was a all around blast of course it would have been nice to win a new boat!
